Lecture: WHAT WOULD I MAKE WITHOUT YOU?
This lecture will examine the works of a selection of contemporary jewelers who work in cross-disciplinary and collaborative manners. Examples include, Kalkidan Hoex, matt lambert, Anneleen Swillen to name a few. Through their practices, this lecture will highlight ongoing shifts relating to the jewelry field, where objects/jewelry are used as tools for social engagement and participation.
When using post-craft thinking to look at aspects of the jewelry field there are clear
methodologies of practice shifting focus away from object centricity and towards
process-oriented, cross-disciplinary collaboration, experimentation and collective making that
create tools of empowerment for different types of communities.
